Assignment 4   Formal Portrait Project Vol.2 Ben, 62 years old, The Big Issue Co-ordinator 

He does not only sell the magazine but also supports home-less people to sell it from Monday to Sunday, everyday. A masonry was his previous job. He lives in Wimbledon now.

We  talked about the importance of connection between people and society.  This is one of the reason which he supports home-less people.

As his age is same with my parents, I felt a sense of intimacy with him.

I realised the photography is one of the communication methods with people.    Thanks to it, I could get to know a stranger such as Ben.

ベンの仕事はこの雑誌を売ることだけではなく、ホームレスの人々に売り方などのサポートをすること。それを月曜から日曜まで2年間ほぼ休みなく1日5時間行う。その前は、石工職人をして各地を転々としていた。ウインブルドン在住。

ベンはよく話をしてくれた。特に人と社会の接点の大切さについてを熱心に話した。だから、彼は自分が売るだけではなく、ホームレスの人々をサポートする。自分の両親と同じくらいの年齢ということもあって、親近感を持って撮影させてもらった。とても深みのある味わい深い顔をされていると思った。

このポートレイト課題をはじめて、知らない人にアポをとって撮らせてもらうことで写真とはひとつのコミュニケーションの方法だという思いを強くしました。そのおかげで、また今週もベンをはじめさまざまな方と知り合うことができました。写真を通じて異国で出会う人々というのもいいものです。
