“Michael Carberry: From county journeyman to England opener”
The sports news of Michael Carberry reminded me of his portrait shooting in 2012. Recently, I can often see his outstanding play as a member of the national team in England on TV.
2012年の冬にサウサンプトンというイギリス南部の港町で、プロクリケットプレーヤーのマイケル選手を撮影させてもらった。ちょうどそのころ、マイケルは長い療養生活から復帰したばかりのころだった。それから1年半。最近では、代表チームで活躍していて、クリケット代表のニュースでは中心的な選手としてその日のプレーが紹介されている。ほんの一日関わらせてもらっただけだけどうれしい活躍だ。
このときは、Celebrity photographyという課題で、有名人のポートレイトを撮影せよ、とのことだった。手紙、電話とあらゆる方法を使って探しなさいと。日本でクリケットはほとんど馴染みがないけど、現在代表チームでは中心的な役割を果たしているすごい選手。とても気さくに撮影させてもらって、楽しかったのを思い出す。
