‘Founded by Peter Hill and Robert Bell in 1613. Removed here 1797.’ The school educated ‘sons of seafaring men’. The black and white picture was taken in 1925.
ピーター・ヒル氏、ロバート・ベル氏によって1613年に設立され、1797年に今の地に移設された学校。学校にいけない船乗りの子どもたちを無償で教育していた。既に学校としては使われていないが、学び舎としての佇まいがすてきだ。 この建物もかつてこの辺りが港町であったことを物語る貴重な存在。モノクロ写真は1925年に撮られたもの。
